Illustration Friday: Speed

I have been absent for a couple of weeks from IF due to travel and a round of jury duty. [see following post] This week's word is Speed. I glanced about the studio for a picture that might represent speed, and came up with this one. This is an overpass I drew some years ago. I liked the arrangement of the levels and lights, sort of like a giant still life, which could, arguably, be the antithesis of speed, but that is OK since this is Illustration Friday. I hope you enjoy it. Post something so I can follow back and see your work. Have a great weekend. http://www.cafepress.com/ottoblotto?pid=8246890

WOW! I thought this was aphotograph at first. Great realism with this. Nice take on the theme, too.

I was just going to say that Lou! I even tried enlarging to see if I could find any traces of pencil... wow again!

Quite realistic. I also like how you describe the art process.

I have always found those intertwining ramps and overpasses intriquing...there's a series of several levels going in many different directions on a highway coming out of Manhattan that has always made me think of "the fall of the empire,"probably because there are so many dirty broken down buildings in the surrounding area. This drawing is a great study in composition and value...and the precision is amazing. I too thought it was a photograph

Superb work...as per usual. I'll say it again I really like your depiction of the urban environment.

Great image, love the pleasing assymetry of the lamp-posts with the flyovers. I too thought this was a photo at first!

This picture is a perfect example of old adage (which may not be all that old, since I'm not entirely sure there is such an adage- but there ought to be) that if you draw anything well enough it doesn't matter what your subject matter is ( not that I take issue with your subject matter, Ms. O).

A-ma-zing! Wow. Not only does it look totally like a photograph, (which is cool), but it is beautiful, nice to look at compositionally, simple, almost peaceful.
